The week ahead: Scariest day for markets will not be Friday the 13th

After hearing about a hotter-than-expected jobs market last week, investors already spooked by inflation will be parsing more economic data this week, especially the release of U.S. inflation numbers for September.

Meanwhile, Pensions & Investments will host its WorldPensionSummit in The Hague on Oct. 10-12. Also, the U.K.'s Financial Conduct Authority is livestreaming an event from the London Stock Exchange to discuss the launch of its Transition Plan Taskforce Disclosure Framework best practices for climate transition plans. Mary Schapiro, former SEC chair, and Michael Marks, head of investment stewardship and responsible investing integration at LGIM, are among the featured speakers.

• Minutes for the September meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee will be released Oct. 11.
  
• U.S. consumer price index data for September will be reported on Oct. 12 as will U.S. initial jobs claims.
  
• Preliminary numbers on U.S. consumer sentiment for October come out Oct. 13.

• The Security Traders Association is hosting its 90th Annual Market Structure Conference Oct. 11-13 in Washington. The agenda includes discussions with lawmakers and regulators, including Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Rostin Behnam and SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce.

• The U.K.'s Financial Conduct Authority launches its disclosure framework for climate transition planning on Oct. 9.
