August begins the unofficial "quiet period" for Wall Street, when many pension funds, asset managers and the folks who run them take vacations before the "back to school" period begins in September.
That said, there's a final round of asset manager earnings coming this week, a bit of economic data and the possibility of a regulatory answer for one of the long-awaited cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds.
On Monday, KKR & Co. is expected to report earnings for the quarter.
On Tuesday, TPG and Sculptor Capital, recently acquired by Rithm, will report earnings as well.
Initial jobless claims and consumer price index data will be released Thursday, as well as the Treasury budget.
The producer price index data will be issued Friday.
The monthly meeting of the New Hampshire Independent Investment Committee will take place Tuesday.
A slew of companies have filed for spot bitcoin and other cryptocurrency ETFs, and an answer might be due for one on Aug. 13. The SEC designated Aug. 13 as the date by which the commission "shall either approve or disapprove, or institute proceedings to determine whether to disapprove" a proposed rule change filed with it by the Cboe BZX Exchange to list and trade shares of the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF.
