The Department of Labor on Tuesday appointed five members to its ERISA Advisory Council.
It also announced that Glenn Butash will remain chairman of the 15-member council in 2021, a position he's held since July, and James Haubrock will serve as vice chairman.
Mr. Butash is managing counsel for U.S. compensation and benefits at Nokia Corp., where he provides legal advice in connection with the design and operation of large, complex defined benefit, defined contribution and welfare benefit plans. Mr. Haubrock is a shareholder with the accounting firm Clark Schaefer Hackett and is a certified public accountant with extensive experience in employee benefit plan audit services, according to a Labor Department news release.
The council's new appointees, who will each serve three-year terms, are:
- Megan Broderick, senior director for global retirement and financial well-being at PepsiCo.
- Dave Gray, head of workplace retirement offerings and platforms at Fidelity Investments.
- Mercedes D. Ikard, director of retirement planning for Atrium Health.
- Anthony Marc Perrone, international president of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union.
- Edward A. Schwartz, president of Schwartz & Co., a registered investment adviser and broker-dealer.
"The ERISA Advisory Council is an important resource for the Department of Labor," said Jeanne Klinefelter Wilson, principal deputy assistant secretary for the Employee Benefits Security Administration, in the news release. "We look forward to the contributions of these talented new members and appreciate their willingness to serve."
In 2020, the three-year terms of five council members expired:
- David Kritz, the previous vice chairman and assistant deputy general counsel for Norfolk Southern Corp.
- David M. Blanchett, head of retirement research at Morningstar.
- Jason Bortz, senior counsel and senior vice president at Capital Research & Management Co.
- Linda M. Kerschner, partner at CAPTRUST.
- Bridget O'Connor, general counsel at International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers.
