Daniel Leon joined HSBC Global Asset Management as global head of trading, treasury management and global solutions, a spokesman said.
The position is new. Mr. Leon is responsible for global counterparty relationships and enhancing investment performance through trading and treasury management. He reports to global CIO Joanna Munro.
Mr. Leon will also create a dedicated treasury management function to support client portfolios, according to a news release Thursday.
"We have a global platform for investments and Daniel's appointment will allow us to manage our trading and treasury management activities globally, ensuring clients everywhere get the benefits of best practice and efficiencies. Coupled with that, Daniel's skills and experience in investment solutions will allow us to solve a wide range of problems for our clients," Ms. Munro said in the release.
HSBC Global Asset Management has $483 billion in assets under management.
Mr. Leon was global head of trading, securities financing and derivatives at AXA Investment Managers. Yannig Loyer was named global head of trading, securities financing and derivatives at AXA IM in June, a spokesman said.
