Sophie Lugiez was appointed head of global trading at BNP Paribas Asset Management, a spokesman confirmed.
She replaced Philippe Boulenguiez, who became chief operating officer of the manager.
Based in Paris, Ms. Lugiez is responsible for all aspects of the €408 billion ($452.9 billion) money manager's global trading, including dealing, foreign exchange hedging, cash management and managing sell-side relationships.
Ms. Lugiez reports to CIO Rob Gambi and she also joined the firm's investment leadership team and business committee.
She was deputy CEO of BNP Paribas's dealing services unit, which no longer exists but was merged into the global trading function, the spokesman said.
"The changing regulatory environment and technological advancement have transformed the buy-side dealing function in recent years and Sophie's broad experience of these areas means that she is ideally suited to managing and developing BNPP AM's high quality dealing platform," Mr. Gambi said in a news release.
