Consultant Sheridan Road Financial and data and analytics firm Fiduciary Analytics have formed the Sheridan Road Human Capital Institute.
The estimate of the unfunded future expenses of the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust that pays the health-care costs of more than 700,000 United Auto Workers retirees from three Detroit-area automakers widened by $16 billion last year as it changed accounting assumptions and adjusted for new projections of how long members will live.
When Ford and General Motors hand over health care for hourly retirees to the UAW on Dec. 31, they also will hand over checks totaling nearly $2.5 billion.
The new UAW voluntary employee beneficiary association won't officially open for business until Jan. 1. But the association, with more than $37 billion in assets, has a chief investment officer and is looking for managing directors to oversee equity, fixed income and risk management.
