Erin Arvedlund has joined Pensions & Investments in the newly created role of enterprise editor.
Ms. Arvedlund, a veteran finance journalist with extensive experience in investigative journalism, started her new role on Oct. 3 in New York. Ms. Arvedlund was most recently a business columnist at The Philadelphia Inquirer, launching her Your Money column in 2011.
In a statement, Editor-in-Chief Jennifer Ablan said that Ms. Ar- vedlund's track record of leading high-impact work in enterprise reporting will help elevate P&I's award-winning institutional investing coverage.
Ms. Arvedlund's past work included reporting on the Bernie Madoff scandal, with a May 7, 2001, article in Barron's headlined "Don't Ask, Don't Tell: Bernie Madoff Attracts Skeptics in 2001." Her deep-dive investigation questioned Mr. Madoff's scheme, his demand for investor secrecy and his "enviably steady gains."
Her early work in covering Mr. Madoff laid the foundation for her first book published in 2009: "Too Good to be True: The Rise and Fall of Bernie Madoff."
Ms. Arvedlund also wrote a book on the LIBOR scandal. That 2014 book, "Open Secret: The Global Banking Conspiracy That Swindled Investors Out of Billions" covered how the London interbank offered rate, a primary benchmark for short-term interest rates around the world, had been manipulated by major banks across the world.
"I've been an admirer of Erin's work for decades, beginning with her days at Barron's," Ms. Ablan said. "She will be a major force in our multimedia newsroom."
