Jennifer Ablan, a veteran editor and reporter with deep roots in institutional investing and asset management, has joined Pensions & Investments as editor-in-chief, chief content officer.
In her new role, Ms. Ablan is responsible for the brand's platform expansion to grow the audience of professional investors and advisers with a focus on digital engagement and measurement.
"As we seek to grow our audience across all channels, Jennifer will provide strategic guidance on content delivered by our news platform, global conferences and content solutions," said Chris J. Battaglia, president and publisher of Pensions & Investments, in a news release announcing her appointment, effective April 18.
"Jennifer's experience and digital journalism skills will be a great asset to our brand and company and will accelerate our pace of growth by launching new products that will serve the needs of P&I's highly sophisticated audience of global investors," he said.
Ms. Ablan succeeds Amy B. Resnick, who was appointed editor in 2015 after joining P&I as executive editor in 2012.
Before joining P&I, Ms. Ablan was U.S. assistant managing editor at the Financial Times. In that role, she supported editorial expansion in the U.S. She previously was U.S. investments editor at Reuters for a decade, overseeing asset management and "big money" coverage and leading the team. Earlier posts included working at Barron's and Dow Jones Newswires, all with a focus on money management and investing.
"Jennifer will be an incredible addition to our team — she has the audience-obsessed mindset we're focused on, and she's passionate about both the investment world and working with the next generation of journalists and business leaders," said KC Crain, president and CEO of Crain Communications Inc., the parent company of Pensions & Investments.
Ms. Ablan is known across Wall Street for breaking big stories and getting inside the heads of America's biggest and most influential money managers, including billionaire activist Carl Icahn, DoubleLine Capital LP's "Bond King" Jeffrey Gundlach, Pacific Investment Management Co. LLC's Daniel J. Ivascyn, Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s Warren Buffett and Bridgewater Associates LP's Greg Jensen.
"When I began my business journalism career, I was told by a senior editor that P&I was a must-read for its authority and excellence on covering institutional investors," Ms. Ablan said. "I'm excited to be a part of its digital evolution as the publication grows its audience of professional investors and advisers."
A graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu, Ms. Ablan received the 2011 Rising Star award from the Women's Bond Club and has been named one of Business Insider's "125 most important finance people you have to follow" on Twitter.
