Pensions & Investments surveys institutionally oriented firms to collect data about worldwide assets managed in hedge funds.
The 2021 survey marks the 12th year that P&I has surveyed hedge fund managers.
This year, P&I discontinued its ranking of hedge fund managers that did not respond to the survey.
Previously, P&I collected assets under management data from ADV Investment Advisor forms filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission when available for hedge funds that did not provide their asset totals.
Money managers that manage hedge funds and other strategies include all of their assets in their ADV filing and do not break out how much of their AUM is managed in hedge funds.
