UAE sovereign wealth fund names head of real estate and infrastructure

Khaled Al Shamlan was named head of the real estate and infrastructure investments platform at Mubadala Investment Co., Abu Dhabi, a sovereign wealth fund of the United Arab Emirates.

Al Shamlan was also named as a member of the Mubadala investment committee, according to a statement on Mubadala's LinkedIn account. He has been with the sovereign wealth fund since 2015, most recently as head of sovereign investment partnerships. Officials at Mubadala couldn't immediately be reached for information about who is replacing him in that role.

Mubadala's real estate and infrastructure investments platform has in recent years made investments in India, the U.K., and the U.S., among other key markets, as part of its long-term strategy.

"Khaled's expertise, experience and dedication to partnership will empower the platform to build on its successful track record as it continues to invest in strategic opportunities around the world," the fund said in the statement.

Mubadala is also planning to double its investments in the Asian markets over the next 10 years, according to Bloomberg.

Mubadala has $276 billion in assets under management. As well as its Abu Dhabi headquarters, it has offices in Beijing, London, Moscow and New York.
