The Russian Direct Investment Fund, Moscow, is investing in the production of testing systems, medication and equipment to help fight the coronavirus.
Russia's sovereign wealth fund is using its network of partnerships in 18 countries to fight COVID-19, "which can only be dealt with through an all-encompassing international cooperation," a news release said.
The fund said it is working with Russian state institutional and other organizations to deliver equipment and supplies to Russia from China, the U.S., Japan, the United Arab Emirates and other countries, the release added.
Investments include in a diagnostic system that produces 30-minute tests to detect the coronavirus and in a drug that "has proven effective in the treatment of infected patients in China," a separate release said. It has also launched free online medical consultations through one of its portfolio companies, Doctis. Customers of banking group VTB can use the Doctis platform to ask questions about symptoms of the coronavirus.
