Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir was appointed managing director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the 123.2 billion ringgit ($29.6 billion), Kuala Lumpur-based sovereign wealth fund, effective July 16.
Mr. Amirul replaces Shahril Ridzuan, "who will be departing to pursue his personal interests upon expiry of his contract with Khanazah," according to a news release. Mr. Shahril couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Mr. Amirul was group chief financial officer at Kuala Lumpur-based Malayan Banking Berhad, known as Maybank, for the past five years.
Mr. Amirul tendered his resignation, effective July 15, on Monday, a Maybank announcement said. While a search is conducted to replace him, Khalijah Ismail, the bank's group financial controller, will serve as acting group chief financial officer.
