Our client, Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA), is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to lead one of the country’s outstanding public retirement systems with $48B in assets. Located in beautiful Denver, regarded as one of the best places to live in the country, PERA’s governance structure is at the forefront of the industry. PERA provides retirement and other benefits to the employees of more than 500 government agencies and public entities in the state of Colorado. The pension plans are a substitute for Social Security for most of PERA’s members.
PERA administers eleven fiduciary funds, including five cost-sharing multiple-employer defined benefit plans, three multiple-employer defined contribution plans, two cost-sharing multiple-employer defined benefit other post-employment benefit plans (health care trust funds), and a Life Insurance Reserve.
Reporting to a 16-member Board of Trustees, the ED serves as the Chief Executive Officer of PERA and is responsible for implementing the Board’s strategic plan and operational direction of PERA programs and execution of its mission, as well as administration and oversight of PERA’s $80M annual operating budget and about 300 employees.
