University of Vermont and State Agricultural College, Burlington, committed up to $3 million to Technology Impact Fund II for its $617 million endowment pool.
The university's investment subcommittee approved the commitment to the venture capital fund managed by Capricorn Investment Group at its April 5 meeting, recently released meeting minutes show.
Investment consultant Cambridge Associates assisted.
University spokeswoman Erin Dickinson could not be immediately reached for further information.
