The University of Alabama System’s investment committee approved commitments totaling nearly $48.5 million for its $2.5 billion pooled endowment fund.
At a Nov. 7 meeting, the Tuscaloosa-based university's investment committee approved a $20 million commitment to Hollyport Secondary Opportunities IX, a buyout fund managed by Hollyport Capital. The investment committee also approved an $8.5 million commitment to Atlas Venture Fund XIV, a fund managed by Atlas Venture, which the committee has invested in previously, according to a webcast of the meeting.
Both commitments fall within private equity, which makes up about 28% of the pooled endowment portfolio.
Within private real assets, the committee approved a $20 million commitment to Pearl Energy Investment Management IV, an oil and gas fund managed by Pearl Energy Investments. Private real assets make up approximately 10% of the portfolio, according to the meeting webcast.
