The $28.7 billion Texas Employees Retirement System committed a total of $130 million to two alternative investment funds in August, a transaction report showed.
From the fund's $3.1 billion private real estate portfolio, investment officers committed $75 million to Campus Real Estate Partners II, managed by Campus Partners, a new manager for the fund. The fund seeks investment opportunities in various types of campus housing near U.S. universities with an enrollment of at least 10,000 students.
The Austin-based defined benefit plan also committed €50 million ($55 million) to Investindustrial VII from the $4 billion private equity portfolio. The buyout fund, run by existing manager Investindustrial, will focus on acquisition of midsized companies in southern Europe, principally Italy and Spain.
