The $30.4 billion Texas County & District Retirement System, Austin, committed $30 million to Threshold Ventures III from the fund's $4.6 billion private equity/venture capital portfolio, a transaction report showed.
The early-stage venture capital fund will seek investments in disruptive companies in the consumer, enterprise and health-care technology sectors.
Threshold Ventures is the new name of manager Draper Fisher Jurvetson. TCDRS has invested in earlier venture capital funds managed under the DFJ name.
TCDRS' allocation to Threshold Ventures is its fifth commitment to private equity and venture capital funds in July; the fund so far this month has put a total of $200 million in the asset class, according to the transaction report.
For 2019, TDCRS' commitments to private equity and venture capital funds totaled $10 million in January; $236 million in February; $100 million in March; $45 million in April; $290 million in May; and $244 million in June.
