Texas County & District Retirement System, Austin, committed $30 million to venture capital fund Column Group IV, a transaction report from the $32.1 billion fund showed.
The fund is run by The Column Group whose portfolio managers will seek investment in early stage U.S. drug-discovery companies.
TCDRS investment officers committed $30 million and $15 million, respectively, to the two previous funds in The Column Group series.
Including the commitment to Column Group IV, TCDRS has committed a total of $1.7 billion from the fund's $5.3 billion private equity portfolio to 27 private equity and venture capital funds run by 26 firms as of Dec. 12.
In all of 2018, the fund committed a total of $1.4 billion to 22 private equity and venture capital funds managed by 19 firms.
