Spokane (Wash.) Employees' Retirement System hired Westfield Capital Management to run $5 million in active domestic midcap growth equities, said Phillip Tencick, retirement director.
The $318 million pension fund conducted a shortlist search due to performance concerns with incumbent manager Vanguard Group. There were no finalist presentations.
Vanguard spokeswoman Emily Farrell declined comment.
As of Dec. 31, the actual allocation to domestic equities was 30.7%; the target is 32%.
Investment consultant Hyas Group assisted.
