San Joaquin County Employees' Retirement Association, Stockton, Calif., is searching for an active emerging markets equity manager to run $40 million to $50 million, CEO Johanna Shick said.
The $2.8 billion pension fund issued an RFP to review how best to access the emerging markets equity asset class, Ms. Schick said. The search will include existing manager Pacific Investment Management Co.'s current fundamental strategy, she said.
As of March 31, PIMCO ran $99 million for the pension fund, according to SJCERA's most recent investment report.
The pension fund's actual allocation to global equities as of that date was 30.9%.
Investment consultant Meketa Investment Group is assisting. The RFP is available on Meketa's website. Proposals are due at 5 p.m. PDT on Sept. 13. A timeline for a decision was not provided.
