Oregon Investment Council, Tigard, made $300 million in commitments on behalf of the $74.5 billion Oregon Public Employees Retirement System, Salem, spokesman James Sinks said in an email.
The council committed $150 million to Taurus Mining Finance Fund II, a fund designed to provide debt to mining companies managed by Taurus Fund Management. Oregon has been investing with Taurus since its $100 million commitment to the firm's first fund in 2014.
Oregon Investment Council also committed $150 million to Silver Creek Aggregate Reserves Fund I, a fund investing in construction materials such as sand, gravel and crushed stone, managed by Silver Creek Capital Management. Oregon has invested with Silver Creek in the past, including in a timber joint venture, Twin Creeks Timber.
