Ohio State Teachers Retirement System, Columbus, disclosed three new commitments totaling $200 million to Thoma Bravo buyout funds, said Nick Treneff, pension fund spokesman, in an email.
The $87.6 billion pension fund committed $100 million to upper middle-market fund Thoma Bravo Discover Fund IV and $50 million each to large fund Thoma Bravo Fund XV and lower middle-market fund Thoma Bravo Explore Fund II.
Ohio STRS has made 10 previous commitments with Thoma Bravo, which targets software and technology companies. Most recently, the pension fund committed $100 million and $75 million, respectively, to Thoma Bravo Fund XIV and Thoma Bravo Discover Fund III in 2020.
The pension fund also made a follow-on commitment of $75 million to Tiger Iron Great River Fund II, a venture capital fund of funds managed by Tiger Iron Capital. The pension fund originally committed up to $125 million to the fund in 2019.
As of June 30, the pension fund's actual allocation to alternative investments was 21.7%.
