Ohio School Employees Retirement System, Columbus, approved two new private equity commitments totaling $56 million.
The $17.3 billion pension fund's investment committee at its Oct. 20 meeting approved commitments of €50 million ($49 million) to Eighth Cinven Fund, a European buyout fund; and $7 million to FS Equity Partners VIII NearU Co-Investment, a buyout co-investment fund managed by Freeman Spogli & Co., according to board meeting highlights emailed by spokesman Tim Barbour.
The pension fund has made previous commitments to both managers, most recently committing €30 million to Sixth Cinven Fund in 2016 and $10 million to FS Equity Partners VIII WhiteWater Express earlier this year.
As of Aug. 31, SERS' actual allocation to global private equity was 12.3%; the target is 12%.
