Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, Columbus, is searching for active emerging markets equity managers to run a total of between $400 million and $750 million.
The $119.3 billion retirement system, which includes $105.1 billion in defined benefit plan assets, issued a request for information for active, long-only non-leveraged emerging markets equity managers that provide their strategy in a separate account structure.
It is an opportunistic search that may or may not result in any hires, according to the RFI posted on OPERS' website. Small-cap submissions will not be accepted at this time, the RFI said.
The RFI did not say which firms currently manage emerging markets equities for the DB plan.
As of June 30, the pension plan's actual allocation to overall international equities was 23%.
The RFI is available on OPERS' website. Responses are due at 4 p.m. EDT on Oct. 29. A decision will be made in March.
Michael Pramik, OPERS spokesman, could not be immediately reached for further information.
