Oakland (Calif.) Police & Fire Retirement System is searching for an active domestic small-cap equity manager to run $10 million to $15 million, an RFP posted on the website of investment consultant Meketa Investment Group shows.
The $389 million pension fund has issued the RFP as a result of the termination of active domestic small-cap value equity manager NWQ Investment Management from its then-$9 million portfolio at its July 31 board meeting.
The board approved the recommendation of Meketa, the pension fund's investment consultant, due to the departure of Phyllis Thomas, the strategy's co-portfolio manager, from NWQ.
Assets are temporarily parked in a Russell 2000 Value exchange-traded fund.
The RFP is available on Meketa's website. Proposals are due at 5 p.m. PDT on Oct. 4. A timeline for a decision was not provided.
Meketa is assisting with the search.
Teir Jenkins, the pension fund's investment officer, could not be immediately reached to provide further information.
