New Mexico Public Employees Retirement Association, Santa Fe, N.M., hired Verus Advisory as its general investment consultant, following an RFI, said Michael Shackelford, chief investment officer of the $16.6 billion pension fund in an email.
Verus' contract starts on Oct. 1.
The board at its Aug. 31 meeting also terminated incumbent Wilshire Advisors. The board approved the general investment consultant search in April due to the loss of the senior consultant on New Mexico PERA's account. That lead consultant, Rose Dean, a former managing director, left Wilshire on March 30. Ms. Dean joined NEPC as a senior consultant and principal on April 3.
Separately, the board rehired Meketa Investment Group as an investment consultant for its $752.8 million deferred compensation plan, following an RFP launched in May. Meketa's contract starts on Oct. 1.
