Kent County, Grand Rapids, Mich., hired Empower Retirement as record keeper for its $79 million 457 plan.
The county issued an RFP in July for a firm to provide record keeping, administration and participation education services.
The selection of Empower was disclosed in an award notice posted Nov. 23 on the county's website. According to a tabulation sheet accompanying the notice, incumbent record keeper Nationwide Financial was one of eight other bidders.
The notice did not say whether there were finalist presentations.
Mandi Dillon, investment adviser at Stifel, Nicolaus & Co., which assisted with the search, could not be immediately reached for further information.
