James City County, Williamsburg, Va., hired Empower Retirement as record keeper for its $34 million 457 plan and $3 million 401(a) plan.
The county posted a notice of the contact award to Empower on its website Tuesday.
In October, the county issued an RFP for a single record keeper to oversee the plans, which share a lineup of 33 investment options.
Current record keeper ICMA-RC was a finalist along with Nationwide Financial, said Jessica Yost, county procurement specialist.
