Illinois Teachers’ Retirement System, Springfield, disclosed commitments and investments totaling $949 million.
The $74.1 billion pension fund’s investment staff disclosed the commitments at its Feb. 20 investment committee meeting, a spokesperson said.
Within TRS’ $21.8 billion global income portfolio, the pension fund committed $200 million to Pretium Residential Credit Fund III, a real estate debt fund managed by Pretium Partners, and $100 million to Proterra Credit Fund 3, a private credit fund managed by Proterra Investment Partners.
Both are existing managers for the pension fund. Pretium and Proterra currently manage $160 million and $127 million, respectively, in TRS assets.
Within TRS’ $12.3 billion private equity portfolio, the pension fund committed $130 million to Thomas H. Lee Equity Fund X, a middle-market buyout fund managed by Thomas H. Lee Partners; €75 million ($77 million) to European buyout fund Investindustrial VIII; $75 million each to buyout fund Vista Foundation Fund V and co-investment fund Vista Co-Invest Fund 2024-1, both managed by Vista Equity Partners; $65 million to special situations fund Peak Rock Capital Fund IV; and €50 million to Northern European middle-market buyout fund Nordic Capital Evolution II.
Thomas H. Lee Partners and Vista Equity Partners are both existing managers for the pension fund, currently managing $137 million and $540 million, respectively, in TRS assets. Investindustrial, Peak Rock and Nordic Capital are new manager relationships.
Within TRS’ $12.5 billion real assets portfolio, the pension fund committed $100 million to Principal Data Center Growth & Income Fund, a data center real estate fund managed by Principal Real Estate Investors.
Principal is an existing manager for the pension fund, currently managing $929 million in TRS assets.
Finally, within TRS’ $24.9 billion public equity portfolio, the pension fund invested $75 million in a strategy managed by Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management.
It is a new manager relationship for the pension fund. The TRS spokesperson did not provide further information on the portfolio.
