Illinois State Universities Retirement System, Champaign, is searching for real assets managers to which the system plans to commit a total of $475 million in 2020.
The $19.6 billion pension fund issued a request for information for interested managers, limited to those who manage open-end or closed-end agriculture, infrastructure and private real estate funds.
The pension fund's commitment pacing target is $475 million for the year, and the pension fund expects to commit between $50 million and $100 million to each individual fund.
As of June 30, the real assets portfolio had $1.3 billion, about 6.6% of the total portfolio, according to the RFI posted on SURS' website. There is no specific deadline provided. Investment consultant Callan is assisting.
