Houston Firefighters' Relief & Retirement Fund approved two new commitments totaling up to $178 million.
The $5.4 billion pension fund's investment committee at its April 21 meeting approved commitments of up to $125 million to Ares Special Opportunities Fund II, a private credit fund managed by Ares Management, and up to €50 million ($53 million) to European buyout fund Nordic Capital XI Beta, recently released meeting minutes show.
As of June 30, the pension fund's actual allocations to private equity and alternatives were 32% and 5%, respectively.
