Chicago Public School Teachers' Pension & Retirement Fund made two commitments totaling $35 million, said Angela Miller-May, chief investment officer, in an email.
The $10.8 billion pension fund committed $25 million to Aberdeen Standard Venture Fund XI, a venture capital fund of funds managed by Aberdeen Standard Investments.
The pension fund issued an RFP in March. Other finalists were Darwin Ventures and Invesco Private Capital, Ms. Miller-May said.
Also, the pension fund committed $10 million to JLC Infrastructure Fund I, a joint venture between Magic Johnson Enterprises and investment bank Loop Capital Partners. The infrastructure fund targets middle-market investments with an emphasis on public-to-private partnerships
The pension fund issued an RFP in January for infrastructure managers owned by minorities, women and people with disabilities. There were no other finalists, Ms. Miller-May said.
As of March 31, the actual allocations to private equity and infrastructure were 3.4% and 2.2% respectively; their respective targets are 5% and 2%.
