Brunel Pension Partnership, Bristol, England, will launch a search for small-cap equity managers in August, the £30 billion ($37.6 billion) pool said on its website.
The allocation will be between £100 million and £400 million.
"The subfund, which sits under our active equities portfolio, offers us the opportunity to really investigate the practical issues of investing in smaller companies and to harness the exceptional growth potential of these companies," said David Cox, head of listed markets, in a news release.
Managers that want to be considered are invited to register by email.
