Battle Creek (Mich.) Police and Fire Retirement System hired Allspring Global Investments to run about $4 million in active domestic small-cap value equities.
The $158 million pension fund's board approved the hiring at its Nov. 21 meeting, recently released meeting minutes show.
Funding comes from the termination of Goldman Sachs Asset Management from a similar portfolio due to performance concerns and organizational changes, according to the minutes.
GSAM spokeswoman Mary Athridge declined to comment.
Investment consultant CAPTRUST Financial Advisors assisted.
