Ken Mergen, vice president of group retirement plans at Retirement Plan Advisors, was named president of the registered investment adviser firm, RPA announced in a news release Feb. 15.
He succeeds Josh Schwartz, who relinquished the role to serve exclusively as chief executive officer of the firm.
Mergen joined RPA in 2014 and has worked in the retirement plan industry for nearly 30 years.
Schwartz, a founding principal of RPA, will represent the firm as CEO while focusing on the firm's strategic direction and client service offerings, the firm said.
In addition, the firm announced that Brett Pendleton, director of group plan operations, was promoted to a new role as vice president of group plan operations.
RPA specializes in serving public-sector retirement plans. It serves more than 550 public-sector employers with 80,000 participants and more than $7 billion in plan and individual assets under advisement.
