Jeff Brunton will join HESTA, the A$62 billion ($46.7 billion) superannuation fund focused on Australia's health care sector, as head of portfolio management.
The position is new, according to a news release Wednesday from the Sydney-based fund.
The addition of Mr. Brunton is in line with the fund's strategy to boost HESTA's internal investment capabilities, with a focus this year on bringing management of Australian equities in-house, to be followed by fixed income and cash, Sonya Sawtell-Rickson, HESTA's chief investment officer, said in the release.
Mr. Brunton, who will join the fund July 26, will report to Ms. Sawtell-Rickson. In his new position, he will "lead internal and implemented teams across growth, defensive and unlisted asset classes, embedding the fund's total portfolio approach to investments," the release said
Mr. Brunton comes to HESTA from Resolution Life, where he served as deputy CIO. A Resolution Life spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
