Leo Yang joined Aware Super as associate portfolio manager for credit income, a spokeswoman confirmed.
Mr. Yang is responsible for supporting further growth of Aware Super's direct lending program, managing of external managers and contributing to global allocation decisions. He joined the super fund's credit income team in Sydney, effective in mid-January.
Mr. Yang reports to Mike Cowell, portfolio manager.
Aware Super has A$150 billion ($104.6 billion) of assets and the credit income team manages more than A$6.5 billion across global credit markets, including leveraged and acquisition finance, corporate, real estate, infrastructure and securitized markets.
The team is focused on capturing emerging opportunities in domestic and New Zealand credit income markets, Mr. Cowell said in an emailed statement. He added that Aware Super is increasing capital flows into its direct lending portfolio in Australia and New Zealand.
Mr. Yang was a director in ANZ's leveraged finance team, where he led the origination and execution of leveraged finance transactions. ANZ did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
