Alan Sheen will join Health Employees Superannuation Trust Australia, or HESTA, on Sept. 28 as the A$52 billion ($38 billion) super fund's head of portfolio management, according to a HESTA announcement Monday.
The position is a new one at the Melbourne-based fund, which serves health-care workers, in line with a restructuring of its investment operations HESTA announced in March that included strengthening its internal investment capabilities.
Mr. Sheen "will lead internal and implemented teams across growth, defensive and unlisted asset classes," the news release said.
A HESTA spokesman said the fund hasn't set targets for balancing internally managed an externally managed assets.
Mr. Sheen is to join HESTA from Sydney-based Dalton Street Capital, where he served as chief investment officer and managing partner. The firm's website also cited Mr. Sheen as Dalton Street Capital's founder.
A spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
