The A$260 billion ($169.3 billion) Australian Retirement Trust, Brisbane, hired Jody Fitzgerald to be its first head of investment resilience and planning, the firm said in a statement on Nov. 7.
The role is newly created and was first announced in March when the fund said it was looking to appoint someone to the position as part of its investment leadership restructure.
Fitzgerald will join the fund in late January and will be accountable for developing strategies to navigate diverse investment landscapes to deliver optimal return across market cycles, the statement said.
She has more than 20 years of experience, and is currently with Morningstar Investment Management, where she is the head of institutional portfolio management and solutions in Sydney.
A Morningstar spokesperson confirmed her departure and said that Fitzgerald will continue to manage the portfolios she is responsible for until she leaves the firm and joins ART in January. Asia-Pacific CIO Matt Wacher will remain responsible for overseeing the management of client portfolios, and Morningstar will commence a process shortly to bring in a replacement, the spokesperson said.
