Caroline Crenshaw was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve on the Securities and Exchange Commission, the White House said Thursday.
If confirmed by the Senate, Ms. Crenshaw would fill the seat previously held by Robert Jackson Jr. who left in February. She would serve as one of two Democrats on the five-member commission, and her term would expire in June 2024.
Ms. Crenshaw served as a staff member in Mr. Jackson's office, and previously worked for former commissioner Kara Stein. She is currently senior counsel at the SEC and a captain in the Army JAG Corps.
She began her SEC career in 2013, serving in the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations and the investment management division, as well as with the former commissioners. Before that, she was in private practice with Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan LLP, where she represented public companies, broker-dealers and investment advisers on complex securities law investigations and enforcement matters.
