Emily Hamilton joined Savills Investment Management as head of environmental, social and governance, a spokesman said.
The role is not new. Further details could not immediately be learned.
Ms. Hamilton is based in London and is responsible for directing the real estate investment manager's global sustainability strategy. She also sets the firm's corporate standards and approach to ESG, working with teams across the business to support them in implementing ESG requirements, reporting and monitoring. She also liaises with property tenants to integrate sustainability into their activities, a news release said.
She reports to Richard Lake, global head of investment risk.
"As a real estate investment manager, we are aware of the impact we have not just on the environment, but also on local communities," said Alex Jeffrey, global CEO, in the news release. "We also recognize that transparency and disclosure are a crucial part of operating in a responsible way."
Savills IM has €20.5 billion ($24.3 billion) in assets under management.
Ms. Hamilton was associate director, sustainability at Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, part of Grosvenor Group, the release said. A spokeswoman said the firm is still in the process of recruiting a replacement.
