Nadir Settles has been named global head of impact investing for Nuveen's real estate business, kicking off a new property sector for the $152 billion business, a spokesman said in an email.
Another veteran Nuveen real estate executive, Pamela West, was promoted to senior portfolio manager, impact investing from portfolio manager, impact investing.
The strategy is focused on community revitalization, prioritizing investments in early stage projects that help to increase the supply of affordable, sustainable and climate-safe housing in low-income and disadvantaged communities.
Mr. Settles, who joined Nuveen in June 2012, continues to serve as New York regional head of office and portfolio manager of the NYC Property Fund Series. Ms. West has been with Nuveen since July 2007.
