Tom Lee will join KKR in Sydney on May 3 as a managing director and head of Australia and New Zealand real estate, the New York-based private markets investment firm said Monday.
The position is new, a Hong Kong-based KKR spokeswoman said.
In addition to overseeing the firm's real estate platform in Australia and New Zealand, Mr. Lee will play a leadership role in expanding KKR's real estate strategies in the region, a KKR news release said.
KKR has deployed more than $1.5 billion of equity in roughly 20 real estate transactions in the Asia-Pacific region since 2011.
On Jan. 14, KKR announced the close of its first Asia real estate fund — KKR Asia Real Estate Partners — at $1.7 billion, focusing on opportunistic real estate investments.
Mr. Lee will join from LOGOS Property, a Sydney-based investor focusing on logistics facilities in the Asia-Pacific.
A LOGOS spokeswoman could not immediately be reached for comment.
