Ralph J. "Jeb" Belford III, managing director, will assume the CIO role at real estate management firm Clarion Partners on Jan. 1, taking over the position from David Gilbert, who will retain his role as CEO, spokesman Chris Sullivan said in an email.
Mr. Gilbert is currently both CIO and CEO.
Separately, Karen Mahrous has joined Clarion as a senior vice president and head of ESG. Ms. Mahrous is based in New York and reports to Mr. Belford.
"Senior management at Clarion has long played an active role in leading ESG for our firm, working with our cross-functional ESG committee to undertake critical initiatives to advance our goals," Mr. Gilbert said in a written statement. "We are pleased to now have a fully dedicated resource to coordinate efforts across geographies and sectors to strengthen our programs in all areas."
Among her duties, Ms. Mahrous will help implement Clarion's commitment to the ULI Greenprint Center for Building Performance goals to reduce the reduce greenhouse gas emissions of Clarion's buildings by 50% by 2030 and its operational carbon emissions to net-zero by 2050. ULI Greenprint is an alliance of the Urban Land Institute and real estate owners that aims to improve environmental performance of global real estate.
Ms. Mahrous was associate director of corporate sustainability at CodeGreen Solutions, an energy and sustainability consultant for real estate investors, owners, operators and tenants.
