The first day of Spring was March 19. If you’re like me, you are working remotely while looking out for your families, friends and, colleagues, and trying to cope with the never-ending flood of news on COVID-19. So you probably didn’t realize that a new season had begun. Considering COVID-19’s global impact, I sincerely hope that each of you in the P&I Community and your families remain healthy and finds a way to get through this challenging time.
The P&I team and our parent company Crain Communications are the most dedicated organizations I have ever been associated with. At the start of this week we created a special landing page to house all our Corona virus content, and we decided to keep this important news free and available to anyone who visits pionline.com or receives news stories via our email newsletters.
All our Coronavirus coverage ― which includes stories you won’t find anywhere else that our award-winning editorial team has delivered ― can be found here.
In addition, if you subscribe to Pensions & Investments' print publication, we have created a way for you to quickly change your mailing address to receive the newspaper at home or another location. Please follow this link to change your delivery address.
Crises like COVID-19 have an immediate and profound impact on millions of people. The health and welfare of all affected by this pandemic are paramount priorities. But as an industry, we also have an obligation to help plan sponsors and their participants understand how best to manage the countless questions and concerns from generations of savers and retirement investors. Now is the time to communicate even more frequently, and I hope you will continue to rely on P&I to assist in this regard.
Since P&I’s first issue in July 1973, we have been committed to helping you get through challenging times, and our leadership teams have mobilized quickly during times of crisis to ensure that we can continue to provide news, content, and information that is critically important to the retirement plan and asset management communities. In fact, P&I is the only media that I’m aware of that has such a mission statement and today, our “mission-based” journalism remains P&I’s focus. We are grateful to the tens of thousands of subscribers, advertisers and thought leaders like you who have committed your careers to help the retirement and asset management industry, and for trusting and relying on P&I for quality journalism.
It’s no doubt quite difficult to find a sense of optimism these days, but I think we all would do well to remember that we must believe in Spring. We can and we will get through this. Like the famous jazz standard says, “So in a world of snow, Of things that come and go, Where what you think you know, You can’t be certain of, You must believe in spring and love”.
Here are my favorite three versions of that classic:
Bill Evans - You Must Believe In Spring | (piano instrumental) https://youtu.be/FTlKzkdtW9I
Dave Sanborn (saxophone instrumental https://youtu.be/oYoQTHKV8b4)
Tony Bennett and Bill Evans (vocal, piano and lyrics) https://youtu.be/2bDFDYhXqPM
Be safe and stay in touch.
