Ruth Lane joined Sterling Investment Partners as a managing director and head of investor relations.
The position is new, a Sterling spokesperson said.
Lane will be responsible for handling the private equity firm's investor relations activities and managing the its fundraising strategy globally, according to a news release from Sterling.
"Ruth will play a critical role within our organization as we continue to scale and develop our firm," Sterling partner James Soldano said in the news release. "We are thrilled to welcome her to our leadership team."
Based in Westport, Conn., Sterling has about $28 billion in assets under management.
Prior to Sterling, Lane was head of investor relations at ATL Partners. The position has not been filled, according to the ATL's website. Officials at ATL couldn't immediately be reached.
She also held similar positions at MidOcean Partners and CIFC Asset Management.
"Her extensive expertise and deep network of relationships will help Sterling strengthen our investor partnerships and enable us to strategically position ourselves for continued growth," Charles Santoro, Sterling managing partner and co-founder, said in the release.
