Mariano Belinky was named industry partner at private equity firm Motive Partners in London, a spokesman confirmed.
It is a new position, and Mr. Belinky will focus on originating and assessing transactions across the financial technology sector. Motive Partners specializes in growth equity and buyout investments.
"Mariano's depth of expertise as an investor, operator and innovator across major financial technology areas are extremely well suited to Motive," said Rob Heyvaert, founder and managing partner at Motive Partners, in a news release Monday.
Mr. Belinky was named CEO of Santander Asset Management in 2018. Mr. Belinky was replaced by Santander's chairman Victor Matarranz.
Mr. Belinky also co-founded and ran InnoVentures, which is Santander Group's $400 million fintech-focused global venture capital fund.
Santander AM had €181 billion ($215.5 billion) in assets under management as of June 30.
