Paul Morrissey was named managing director to lead investing in Europe for Blackstone's global growth equity business, Blackstone Growth.
The role is new and Mr. Morrissey starts this week, a spokesman said.
He will lead an existing team, managing European deployment for Blackstone Growth. The firm recently completed the final close for its inaugural $4.5 billion growth equity fund.
"Paul is a world-class growth equity investor and his appointment underlines Blackstone's already strong commitment to partnering with fast-growing European companies to help them become global industry leaders by providing them with access to a scale of resources not typically available to this market," Jon Korngold, global head of Blackstone Growth, said in a news release.
Parent company Blackstone has a total $619 billion in assets under management.
Mr. Morrissey was a partner at technology-focused investment firm Battery Ventures. Details on any replacement were not immediately available.
