David Morley, vice president and business development director of Eaton Vance Corp.'s U.K. institutional business in London, is a film dad.
After watching his son, Joe, make films in the family's backyard growing up, he decided on the perfect gift for Joe's 18th birthday — setting up a movie company for him.
Morley Motion Pictures Ltd., Sharnbrook, England, was launched in 2017 and released Joe Morley's first short film in 2018. A World War II flick, "1940" was produced on a £1,000 ($1,215) budget, with some support from David Morley's Eaton Vance colleagues.
Since then, Joe, now a producer, scriptwriter and director, has released other short films, such as "The Better Place" and "Glass Moon," according to his IMDb page.
David Morley also was added to the company's board of directors in August.
David himself has been pulled into the world of film on more than one occasion, driving his son to various film festivals and sometimes even appearing on screen.
"I often find myself as an extra in his films," he said.
