Christopher Hanak was named chief investment officer of the Washington State Investment Board, Olympia.
He replaces Allyson Tucker, who became the board's CEO on Jan. 1, replacing the retiring Theresa Whitmarsh.
Mr. Hanak was previously the board's senior investment officer, leading its risk management and allocation team.
A Feb. 17 news release announcing the appointment did not provide further information on Mr. Hanak's previous position. Spokeswoman Tish Day could not be immediately reached for further information.
Washington State Investment Board oversees $193.8 billion in assets, including $156 billion in defined benefit plan assets.
